Greetings from Idaho!

I've been playing for over 40 years and still loving it! Grew up in AZ and in 1974 was in McDonald's All-American HS Band and still remember the thrill of playing under the direction of Paul LaValle in NYC and recording with Doc Severinson in LA. In the mid-70's I studied with John Cvejanovich at the American Conservatory in Chicago (he was a back-up player for the Chicago Symphony), and he was a great inspirtation and encourager. He helped me purchase my gold-plated Bach Strad 43 ML in 1976 and it's still my favorite instrument! For almost 10 yrs. I played with the Scottsdale Symphony in Scottsdale, AZ and with the Brass Menagerie Quintet in Phoenix. Currently living in Nampa, ID and am teaching privately. If you know any students in the area who need a teacher, let me know. I am also interested in getting involved with more ensemble work in this area. Brass quintet, anyone?

Re: Greetings from Idaho!

Hello Goldstrad - welcome to TM!

We are always happy to have new members who are experienced players that can offer some input to the newbies and us comeback players. So, visit often and jump into the fray (which is ongoing here). It sounds like you have a varied background in trumpet playing. I hope you can find some groups to play with. I started my comeback effort 6 months ago and the first 4 months were spent in the woodshed with a sock stuffed in the bell so everyone in the area wouldn't complain. Then a couple of months ago I joined a community band here in Southern Calif and I am having a ball. In fact, they welcomed me in a unique way. They created a whole new part for me - 5th trumpet (I think its 'the higher the better'?) Anyway, its mostly (well, entirely) rests for now but they tell me they will add some notes "real soon now").

Good Luck.
BTW - I have relatives in Nampa - very nice area.
