| Greetings from P-town Hello Everyone! I joined in a while back after lurking for some time. I started with the horn in 5th grade(1966) band..liked it and stuck with it all through college. Got my BS in music and then proceeded to work for a bank and an insurance company for the last 20 or so years. I did manage to make a living at music for a time with freelancing and teaching privately. Then the wife, kid and mortgage..well you know. I am primarily a Jazzer but I can play classical and commercial too. Currently, like so many others, I am trying to comeback after a years long layoff and some dental issues. I have owned many Brands of horns over the years although I still have and enjoy the '73 Getzen Eterna Flugel my folks bought for me in HS. I have been fortunate to hear many Trumpet artists live over the years like Doc, Don Ellis Orchestra, Maurice Andre, Miles,Kenny Wheeler, Armando Ghitalla (Master Class early 80's)Woody Shaw, Blue Mitchell (w/Art Pepper), Maynard, Arturo,Terrance with Art Blakey, Bobby Shew and many others from all idioms.I have enjoyed and appreciated all of the info and history in these forums and I hope to post more as I get back into playing shape. Until then> Regards, Paul S. Portland, OR |
