| Greetings and salutations I'm new to this list, having heard about it in a roundabout way fooling around with my new high speed connection (goodbye dial up!) I'm 52, a trumpet player living and working in Chicago, and I teach at a school that specializes in giving away free stuff to kids, the Merit School of Music. Barbara Butler was my teacher at Eastman, and I have been a free-lancer in the Chicago area for years, doing jazz, classical, shows, blues, klezmer, whatever there's a paycheck for. Teaching has taken up more of my time lately. I recognize some of the names around here, Steve Burns is a colleague, Wilmer Wise used to post on the apparently defunct aol trumpet boards, Luis Loubriel who someone mentioned I used to work with, he replaced me as trumept teacher at the Sherwood Conservatory in Chicago. So greetings to all, I hope to participate in the discussions going on. Michael McLaughlin "The creative life is a lovely, leisurely suicide." Oscar Wilde |

Are you "The Michael" from Windy City who prior to your 50th birthday took the KIDS onto the stage of the OPRAH show while wearing a red shirt ? AOL self-destruct with its inordinate changes/revisions and its penchant for losing posts. The WISE ONE can run but he is too busy to hide | |
