![]() | Hell0 From New Member Hello, What a pleasure to have found this Trumpet site. I have been playing trumpet for going on 48 years through my school years and ever since. My greatest joy has been symphony and chamber orchestra performance. But to be sure, concert bands, wind ensembles, and Classic Big Band Jazz have provided many, many hours of enjoyment, as well. Baroque music has always been special for me. Perhaps, I Should have said, simply, playing trumpet has always been enjoyable which ever the organization, type of music or occasion. Equipment: Bb-Trumpet: Olds Special (1959) Horn was evaluated by Schilke shop in mid-eighties and was judged to be in excellent condition and a great playing horn. Schilke added a first valve-slide trigger and the instrument was silver plated. Yes there was an improvement in the sound. Mouthpiece(s): Schilke-20 or Bach-1D. C-Trumpet: Schilke, C-1, (with Bb slides and first valve-slide trigger). Used primarily for symphony, chamber music, small ensemble and solo work. Mouthpiece(s): Bach-1D, Bach-1 1/4B, or Schilke 15B. Piccolo Trumpet: Schilke P5-4 I love this horn. It is great fun to play and it has never been a disappointment. Mouthpiece(s): Schilke-15B3X, Bach-7DW, and Bach 1E. Used primarily for chamber orchestra and solo work. Now COMPLETELY RETIRED, I am working to rebuild my chops and further develop a few skills after a seven year absence from active playing. I have joined a community concert band and a college symphonic wind ensemble. All working toward the day I will audition for one of this area's symphony orchestras. Thank you for making this web site available. I look forward to being a member of your group. ![]() ![]() | Re: Hell0 From New Member Hello Jack, you are among comrades here - especially the large group of returning players. However, your time off barely qualifies as a chance to rest your chops. Some of us have been off 30, 40, and in at least one case, 51 years. So, imagine what kind of a hill we have to climb. Be glad you didn't wait any longer to pick it up. It looks like you have some nice equipment and you will find a lot of fans here of both Olds and Shilke horns. Good luck and keep visiting. It looks like you have a great background to be able to contribute a lot to the discussions here.
