Hello

Hi all,
I'm new to TrumpetMaster, so I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself. My name is Mark Parsons and I am a high school band director at Charlottetown Rural High as well as a trumpet instructor at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada. I hold a B.Mus. degree(music education) from U of P.E.I. and a M.Mus. degree (performance) from McGill University in Montreal. I perform with the PEI Symphony as well as other commercial freelance work. I look forward to reading and posting on TrumpetMaster.
Mark

Re: Hello

Welcome to TM, Mark! It can be a fun place even though we don't hardly ever use the Queen's English.

Re: Hello

Hi,

You'll have to prove you are from P.E.I. by completing this line from Stompin' Tom "Bud the Spud ......... "

Welcome from the Canadian west and yes, they do talk funny round here. Their spelling is worse though ... armor, color, checks, etc.

Cheers,

Brian

...from the bright red mud,
Rollin' down the highway smilin',
The spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig,
There from Prince Edward Island,

Ah, Stompin' Tom Conners, from Skinner's Pond PEI...gotta love it!

As for spelling, I always thought Canadians used far too may vowels!

Re: Hello

Why do we pronounce it "ca-neigh-dee-ans" instead of "can-nah-dee-ans?" Is this perhaps the real reason we Americans use the term "Canucks?"

Re: Hello

Welcome to TM. I was a High School Band Director for 28 years. I empathize with you. Fun and frustrating work. All the best....
