![]() | Hello! :) Hi everyone. I've been playing trumpet for a day now (woohoo! Anyway, I also play french horn as well and am just starting to learn how to play double horn. I've attempted to teach myself how to play piano, but that didn't go to well. I'm excited to get the chance to meet fellow trumpeters. |

My neighbors were probably grateful that the case was empty, because I was going to try to scream high notes on that French horn - Morris | |

![]() | Re: Hello! :) haha. i find that extremely funny. but i would be quite disappointed if that happened to me. my neighbours are probably ready to kill me, having a french horn AND a trumpet. i often like to play them outside. :) |

![]() | Re: Hello! :) Because I insist on playing right-handed, I assume that I would have to place the French horn bell to my lips and suck the notes out? Or would I place my lips on the mouthpiece and just hold the French horn upside down and push up on the valves with my right hand? BTW, since I am tone deaf, the French horn and my trumpet would both be in the same key: "whatever" - Morris, suffering from terminal silliness |

![]() | Re: Hello! :) Welcome to TM AutumnLeaves. French Horn and trumpet - now that's a switch in mouthpieces!!! Wish you luck with that - having started with trumpet - I found it very difficult to try to shift to the French Horn mouthpiece - but going from FH to trumpet might be easier....I'm just not so sure on the transition back! I always found going to a larger mouthpiece easier from trumpet (e.g. baritone, trombone). But hey - if the late great Dennis Brain could also play a length of hosepipe in addition to French Horn ....who's to say! (I actually have an old LP recording of that).
