![]() | Hello! I just wanted to say hello to all you trupmeters out there. I am a "comeback" player for the second time in my life. I am 46 and been out of it for 8 years. I am back at our local big band gig that plays twice a month in Chattanooga. I play an early 70's Holton ST-200 Bud Brisbois horn and a Lawler flugelhorn...which I LOVE! My talents are big band jazz and combo work, and I am extremely weak in the legit chops! But, I know where I stand! Looking to get the chops back and get through the pain! It is fun to be playing again. I worked for about 8 years regularly as a banjo player in a bluegrass band, and the economy killed the paying gigs. You gotta play soomething! |

![]() ![]() | Re: Hello! Welcome Flathead... You have come to the right place for a comeback player - even a second-timer. But, we will give you credit - doing the comeback thing must be tougher the second time because you know how long the hill is. I have been at my comeback (after 30+ years) for about 5 months, and I am only now starting to understand that fact. I joined a symphonic band so at least the effort would have some fun to it. So, hang in there. Maybe this time it will stick. At least you have nice horns to play as you are working back.
