![]() | I am a 72 year old former trumpet player who is learning to play the trumpet again. I have a Reynolds Professional trumpet with a sterling silver bell that I got in 1952. I would like to get new felt washers, valve springs, and corks for the water valves. Can anyone provide me with sources for these? Do Bach washers and springs fit a Reynoles horn? Are there any interchangability charts for these items? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks gchunter |

![]() ![]() | Re: Hello to all. Hello, gchunter. Welcome to TM. You are among friends here - many of us with the same story. I was off for 35 years (the record is 51 years) but finally remembered something I enjoyed doing many years ago. It was my grandson who reminded me when he said he wanted to take band class in Middle School and asked what he should play. I drug out my old trumpet, blew off the dust and started showing him the fun of playing - and rediscovered it myself. So, I bought him a trumpet and, while I was at it, bought a 'few' more just in case any of my other grandkids (or their friends, or their school, or their town) decided they wanted to start playing as well. I guess it's all part of the fun of this hobby. Be sure to visit often and keep us posted on how it's going for you. Good Luck. P.S. - Reynolds! I knew there was a brand I don't have - guess I'll start looking for one!

![]() | Re: Hello to all. Ted and ComeBackKid, I haven't played since 1956, so that's 53 years. I've been lip buzzing and mouthpiece buzzing for two weeks now and am about ready to put the mouthpiece in the trumpet. gchunter |

![]() | Re: Hello to all. Betting that's a very attractive horn. Prettiest horn I've ever seen is a Reynolds Professional Cornet heavily engraved with gold plated highlights. If the repair kit doesn't do the job....Most technicians should be able to help you if you take it in. They usually have a variety of odd stock pieces that they can fit to older less common instruments. Brian

![]() ![]() | Re: Hello to all. Congratulations! You are now the record-holder for the longest hiatus in the comeback players club (and I am the unofficial keeper of the record book for that category). You have a great horn for your comeback activities. It sounds like you are taking the proper course - slow and easy and lots of low-impact practice while you build your chops. Good luck and welcome to the club.
