Hello from down South

Hi

My name's Dale Proctor and I just discovered this site. I live in beautiful Huntsville, Alabama and have played trumpet (and cornet) for about 38 years not counting a 5 year layoff from 1973-78. I play in Olde Towne Brass (a Civil War brass band), the Brass Band of Huntsville (a British-style brass band), and our church orchestra. I also sub in a couple of big bands when time (and wife) allows. I'm pretty much a non-musically educated overachieving hack who got pretty good on his own.

Dale,

Welcome.. This is a great site and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here.

Greetings from a displaced damn yankee! At least that's what I'm told I am anyway!

Welcome, Dale!

I grew up in Decatur, and actually played in the Birmingham Symphony ( as it was called then) from 66-74. I must say I miss the area at times! Enjoy TM!

Thanks for the compliment (on the other thread). That horn's a beauty and in great shape, but it plays like.......a really nice 130 year old horn. Stuffy, no dynamic range, certain notes way out of tune, etc. Playing it with our band is an exercise in alternate fingerings and lipping - and my horn is probably the best in the group!

Hello Roy - thanks for the welcome. I played in the Huntsville Symphony from 1983-1987. That was enough!
