| Hello Everyone!!! My name is Amanda, I'm 16, sophomore in high school. I really like this web site because it has different opinions about almost everything to become the best musician you can be. I want to go to college to major in music and I would also like to be a Band director and/or a professional performer, but before I can do that, I need as many peoples' advice as possible : I need to know how to get high notes easier and stronger and become more confident and comfortable with them. |

| Re: Hello Everyone!!! Welcome, you're in for a great trumpet site. I too am 16 and am a sophomore in highschool. I think it is great that you plan on majoring in music. I myself will never make a career out of music, but it will always be a strong hobby of mine. You should really check into the resistance your trumpet has, I'm not sure it that could be it or not. Also, if you have a great trumpet player in your area, taking private lessons is the best way to expand on your abilities. |

| Re: Hello Everyone!!! First of all welcome! For high notes, patience , chops need to be developed. When I was your age I joined a DCI drum and bugle corps. Usually the brass staff at DCI level is top notch and you build so much endurance and confidence performing at a high level throughout the entire summer. You'll come back in the fall with monster chops and increased endurance and range. If there are skeptics out there check out The Blue Devils Hornline, then you'll understand!Of course a good teacher is important to guide you along.Best of luck!
