![]() | Hello fellow trumpeters My name is Bryan Fields. I'm new to this forum, although I post a lot over on Trumpet Herald. I gave up on RMMT because it's turned into Mikey's personal flamefest. I play trumpet (been playing nearly forty years) and write children's novels. I'm a 1984 music graduate of Brigham Young University and almost finished a master's degree in jazz studies at North Texas fifteen years ago. Currently I'm trying to finish up the teacher certification requirements in music ed at UNT, but am also considering getting certified in English or journalism since band gigs are few and far between and I'm really too burned out to deal with a roomful of kids who've been babysat by the TV their whole lives, especially when they have noisemakers in their hands. I think I'd really prefer just teaching trumpet lessons. Actually, I have ambitions to write full time. I've sold two novels to Henry Holt and Company; the first one, Lunchbox and the Aliens, was published last fall and has received excellent reviews. The sequel, Froonga Planet, is scheduled for release in fall of 2008. In addition to supporting my family, I hope writing will eventually help me support my trumpet habit! I need (okay, want) a bunch of new horns. Buy my books! For more about me and my books, visit my website. Author Bryan W Fields |

![]() | Re: Hello fellow trumpeters VB.... "Blew His Eyeballs Out" ??? That should guarantee a decline in trumpet players coming up through the ranks.... LOL Welcome Lunchbox. We can't promise you a sanctuary... but there are some nice people on TM... although we've had a few hostile takeover attempts from "Asia". Rogerio |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Hello fellow trumpeters I did read it. There are two versions. In the first version, a violist was killed by a fantastic conductor. The conductor was found guilty and sentenced to the electric chair. The artistic community mourned. In the second version, it was a trumpeter killed by a unqualified conductor. The conductor was found guilty and sentenced to the electric chair. Unfortunately, the execution never went through, because after all, he was a lousy conductor...
