| Hello from the "new guy" I've taken over a 10 year break from playing the horn and want to get back into the game. So, I was surfing the net for info and found this site... So I'll just do a fast intro here and dig into the forums Where are you from? I'm in my 50s and have been in the Los Angeles area most my life, now I'm out by San Bernardino. How long have you been playing trumpet? I did the usual jr hs and high school stuff being in several bands in the late 60s and early 70s. In the 80s I mostly played in church...took a break in the 90s and now... I'm back! What equipment do you play on? In the late 60s my dad was generous enough to buy me a French Besson (made in France~ not bad for a kid from the OC!) I had two rentals before that and in the 80s I picked up this sweet Blessing (Indiana) coronet that I really like the sound of. About 10 years ago I was taking lessons in Riverside and my instructor turned me onto a Burbank that I fell in love with... I was going to buy a custom made one until a turn of events found me in college (again) full time for 6 years and I stopped playing. Anything else we should know about you? I've got a ton of questions...but the rules say I need to post them else where and I'll respect that...so...I'll see y-all in the forums! PS: I chose the screen name TropicLightning because I was in the 25th Infantry Division in the 70s...that's their nickname... Frank Last edited by TropicLightning : 01-07-2008 at 10:51 PM. |
