| New Friend | Hello from newbie Hi all, My name's Juan Vega, & I've been "playing" trumpet for all of 5 months. I live & work in L.A., CA as a jazz guitarist and part-time professor in the Music dept. at Cal State University, L.A. After many years of thinking about it, I finally took the plunge, bought a horn, & dug in; I should've done it sooner... The trumpet is a fascinating instrument, and when I can get a decent sound out of it, it's a real joy. I'm playing on a Yamaha YTR2320, & after a lot of experimentation & frustration, seem to have settled on a Vincent Bach 3C m/p. I'm working on range, getting a good sound, and hitting that critical 1st note accurately, all quite challenging. I've already played 2 concerts at school, and hopefully I'll continue to progress, and perhaps even be able to improvise some in the future. Looking forward to this forum... |
