Hello from Switzerland

Hello everybody
It's great to take part here.
I live in Amriswil, Switzerland and play the trumpet in the wind orchestra of our town Unbenanntes Dokument and are the conductor of our Jugendmusik (Youth band). I also play occassionally with the string orchestra www.kammerorchesteramriswil.ch and with the organist Thomas Haubrich Home. One of my teacher is Dani Felber Dani Felber Music Entertainment - Die professionelle Schweizer Gala, Tanz und Show Big Band.
My favorit trumpets are Spada-Bach in B and C. As a native swiss I also play our national instrument, the alpine horn and the "Büchel" (a wooden trumpet). I own a lot of music for these instruments and play alone, with organ or recently with string orchestra.
Thanks for reading and greetings from Switzerland.
Chuck

Re: Hello from Switzerland

Welcome! I had no idea that countries had 'national instruments' -- I wonder what the US's is. Probably the radio. :)

Greetings from Massachusetts! Just holding one of those Buechels in position must be exhausting, let alone playing it. What kind of mouthpiece do you use?

Re: Hello from Switzerland

Hi Jude
the Buechel is much lighter than it's looks but could be exhausting. The mouthpiece is similar to a trumpet mp (rim is equal, cup is V-shaped, but the shank is larger. You have to use a wooden mp for the typical (alpine)hornlike sound. It's regarded as bad style if you use a metallic one. The Swiss alphorn society is very strict. They have rules! Until now was not allowed to have a tuning tube (!)
Gruss chuck

Re: Hello from Switzerland

Hello Trumpetnick
yes indeed, i like Spada's Instruments, but most important are
their individual service, the support and the advices they give for free. They have an enormous amount of knowledge and expirience.
If you buy instruments there you can rely on quality, if you only buy "the best price" offers you need luck.
