| Well, I've checked out this site now and then when I had questions about horns and also when I was checking out horns for sale, but now I've made the big decision to join up and actually talk to other trumpet players! My brother in law, Peyton, referred me to this site. Hey Peyton! My name is Rick. I'm a 43 year old Podiatrist. Born and raised in South Haven Michigan. Now living in Holland, Michigan. I'm married with 4 kids. I played trumpet from 4th grade up through 2 years in marching band at Western Michigan University. It simply took too much time from studies so I gave it up. After starting my practice. I was moved by our great church chior and orchestra and decided to pick up my horn again after 12 years. I dusted off my Holton MF Horn St 302 (The case is signed by Maynard Ferguson himself) It worked fine but my lips did not. I was pretty discouraged at the 5th grader tone I heard, but kept it up. I played in some small ensembles occassionally in church as well. I figured church is my best venue because nobody will ever boo me. In 2000, I up graded to a Bach 180 #37 bflat in lacquer, love it. Last year I picked up a Yamaha Flugel horn YFH-631 just for fun. This mixes things up a bit and keeps me practicing more. My recent purchase is a King Legend 2070csp trumpet in C. In fact I haven't even recieved it yet. I can't wait. I hope I"m not disappointed. It looks beautiful in satin and shiny silver. I plan to post input about this horn on the forum. Thanks for reading my intro. Rick. |
