| New Friend | First off, I would like to extend a warm greeting to everyone on this website, I came upon it earlier this evening and as a trumpet player, thought it to my benefit to join. My name is Carter, I'm 15 years old and I live in Sudbury Ontario (Canada). I have been playing trumpet since grade 7 (almost 3 years now) and love it to death! I am involved in my high school Jazz band, concert band and orchestra (I also play bass). I am a multi-instrumentalist also playing banjo, bass, guitar, mandolin, trombone, clarinet, violin and piano. I play a cheap import J.Michael trumpet with a Yamaha 11B4 mouthpiece (possibly soon upgrading to a Yamaha or Schilke 13A4a for lead in jazz). I look forward to posting in the future on this website, only looking at it for a few minutes now, it already looks like a real treat to be here and expand my learning possibilities and help wherever possible! My current favourites, my (jazz) teacher and trumpet mentor Mr. Peter Scherzinger, Maynard Ferguson, Arturo Sandoval, Louis Armstrong, Nick Drozdoff (also a mentor in a way), Dizzy Gillespie, etc. My current favourite song is Maynard Ferguson played by Arturo Sandoval. I also like (a close second) Round Midnight played by Maynard Ferguson. I have recently become accustom to scream trumpet some artists I like are mentioned above. I listen to classical, jazz, and bluegrass! Thanks for reading, I feel welcome already |

![]() | Re: Hey Everyone! Welcome aboard carteru93! Wow - you really play a full arsenal of instruments already! Pretty good at age 15! Comingfrom Canada - you must have a special regard for Maynard! Did you ever get to see him play? Still my favorite live performer after all these years (first saw him in 1969 - kinda pre-dates you.....). Keep up with those jazz charts - so much fun and a great challenge. No better sound than a jazz band with a good brass section. Enjoy your journey with the trumpet!

| New Friend | Re: Hey Everyone! Thanks for the warm reception! Only been playing/interested in trumpet for 3 years, I never saw MF play, really had never heard of him until about a year ago, and by that time, it was too late. Would have been a real privilege though I'm sure! |
