Hi everyone I'm really happy to have found this place! I'm a young horn player (been playing for about 7 years) and I'm a Junior in H.S
I wanted to find a place to talk to other trumpet players and better ones because I've been a big fish in a small ponf for a while )=. I'm good, but I wann aget so much better so thats y I am here, to soak up knowledge like a sponge and to just learn my brains out (=.

Edit: I feel really depressed about my playing however, because I started playing in 4th grade after I switched from sax ( I got the sax from the clerk, counted 26 buttons, and said " Oh forget this mess! I'll play the trumper (true story (= ) ) Got braces in 7th grade, I thought it actually helped me play better. 8th Grade I'm hitting high 3rd octave D's, and since then My range hasn't gotten any better )=. I admit I used to practice 24/7 back in my early days up until my Freshman year, but still I'm a Junior and I can barley scrape E's. Heck, I got my braces off 3 weeks ago and now all my endurance is gone and I can hardly touch a D. It's just really frustrating/depressing going from this guy who was prized for screaming on his horn (lol as far as 8th graders go) to this guy who has a mediocre range. I admit my tone, improvsational skill, reading, and other things are very very good, but I feel so limited (being a prodominantly Jazz player) by my range when I wanna take my solo's up to the next level only to have my range opress me. I feel limited, and this makes me loathe practicing because I get so frustrtated. To make matters worse, I'm the Lead trumpet in our Jazz band and we go to the Reno National Jazz Festival in a vouple of months, and I really wanna WOW people there by squealing and screaming (Hey, Winton Marcellus said we trumpet players have a natural urge within us to show how big and bad we are at times. Its just some of us have the urge more than others lol (= ) So thats why I'm here lol to learn as much as i possibly can from people ALOT better than I am (=. If you read this far, Thank you for your time and im sry 4 the long post, just got really into it and got carried away )=

Welcome man. Thats one thing that took me awhile to learn... absorb like a sponge until your older, and then dispense your knowledge.

Welcome! Braces are no joke. If you are persistent and methodical, the range will come back--just work on being a complete player and wait for the miracle to happen.
