Hi

Hi, my name is Craig and I bought my first "New" horn in 1972 while playing in High School. Still have it - a Getzen Eterna Severson Model. It's been around the world in some Navy Bands. I have not touched it for several years and was hoping to find it a good home. I am moving on to the Irish Accordion. I hope to utilize the site to pass this horn on to someone who will take good care of it. Anyway, the site was well planned out and I am enjoying reading the posts.

In all seriousness, I would take the horn to play, but there are probably people needing it more than I. PM me if there are no other offers, i guess.

Re: Hi

You should sell it on eBay, and if they don't take good care of it, leave them negative feedback. It really shouldn't matter whether they take good care of it or not, as long as you get paid. If it's of centimental value, you souldn't be letting it out of your possession in the first place.

Re: Hi

Hi - that's a generous offer. I can understand your feeling some sense of responsibility for an old horn you spent a lot of time with, without wanting to retain possession of it. Warren was willing to consider trading his girl-friend for Getzen around Christmas time, I hope he sees the post. But what is an Irish accordion??

I should have said a "Diatonic button accordion played in the irish style" probably tuned in the C#/D keyboard system. Thanks for the comments. Yes, I could just sell it for cash, heck everything has its price, right? Due to some illness, it was and still is a problem to my eyesight to play the trumpet (the pressure that is created), so I kind of had to give it up. I played in drum and bugle corps, Navy bands, community bands, small groups, even a polka band. No, I think I will find a deserving person who wants a little bit of history and a fairly nice horn to grow up with.

Re: Hi

It has much centimental value but nobody to pass it on to. We only live so long and we only need so much money. To each his own. I was lucky enough to have parents that would loan me the money to buy this when I was in 5th grade. It took me many years to pay it back to them but was worth every bale of hay I stacked in a barn or month worked at the local canning factory. Not all kids have that kind of a chance to play a nice horn.

Re: Hi

You and this horn go way back, why not just put it away and hope that medical science will eventually be able to deal with the problem that prevents you from playing now? Maybe you're it's most worthy owner. If science doesn't come through, no real harm done as far as the trumpet goes, and you'll still be able to play accordion. I butt in here because my parents gave away my trumpet as soon as I left for college and while I had no objection at the time, there did come a time later when I wished I still had it. (My cousins turned it into junk metal within a month - I regret that more than simply losing it.)

Re: Hi

Hi Craig! You could seek out a disadvantaged kid in your neighborhood, give him some lessons and a horn. You would never be forgotten!
