Hi All,

Hello fellow trumpet folk,

My name is Chris Kallmyer. I just joined the ranks and I look forward to meeting you all.

--A little about me--
I'm from the DC area and I just finished my BA in Music At St. Mary's College of MD. I'm starting my MFA at CalArts this September in Trumpet Performance. Currently, I'm geared up to practice a lot of horn and work at the Cowgirl Creamery in DC for the summer. I'll also be attending the Chosen Vale Seminar for Trumpet in June(I'm psyched--and look forward to meeting all who will be attending.)

thanks,

-chris

Re: Hi All,

Welcome. I played a few concerts at St. Mary's a while back - uh, well let's see, if you're a student, then....uh.....probably before you were born. Oh wow, I'm getting old. I remember it as a good musical experience and some good partying drinking Mai-tai's down in Solomon's Island.

Re: Hi All,

Chris,

My daughter graduated from St. Mary's in '93. Also, I am assuming you studied with Jeff Silberschlag. What a great player and fine person!

Re: Hi All,

Thanks so much for the kind words and welcomes.

to Pat- St. Mary's is still filled with great music. Solomons is still a great place to hit up for a mai-tai or three. It was a cool joint to study music at because of the relaxed atmosphere and liberal arts education. I can even read believe it or not.

to Mr. Griffin- Yes, Jeff is still teaching at St. Mary's--and thats the reason I went there. He is a really great guy and an even better player--he just gets better with age. He is doing a lot more conducting right now. If you are looking for a good reason to visit, we've established a summer concert series that Jeff directs--I believe we are in our eigth year. here is the website. River Concert Series at St. Mary's College of Maryland (the only place you can get a beer, an oyster sandwich, and listen to Petrouchka)

To Mr. Hirsh- I am new to the Carroll-sphere.-- I've enjoyed the ride thus far, and am looking forward to the next few years at CalArts. I feel very lucky to be a part of the music that is being made at that school, and a part of the outstanding program that Ed runs.

-thanks to all again for the kind words-

-chris
