![]() | Hi Folks :-) Well....Here I am, heading for my mid 40's and picking up a horn again for the first time in toooooo many years I played (a lot...) up to my mid 20's and was doing some teaching and semi-pro work when I found that I could actually make money to feed myself in the computer industry.... Anyways, I got given an no-name chinese horn and started playing a bit a couple of years ago, and decided to take the plunge back and managed to find myself (two months ago..) an early Elkhart Model 38 (SN 97603)...What a fantastic piece of iron !! Makes even my ham fisted early efforts sound good - Great attack and response, I chuffed to bits with it - I'm glad I didn't manage to find the Getzen Severinsen model I'd set out to find..... I'd like to say a word of thanks to Stuart Laughton who replied to a mail from me congratulating Canadian Brass on a great performance in Manchester a couple of years ago, for taking the time to encourage me back into the fold - A real gent !! Anyway - Anyone in Lancashire, England who fancies getting together and blowing a few bars badly together...Get in touch !!!!!!!! |
