![]() | How do I heal my lips? About a year ago, I bit my lips after playing a concert playingnd the skin peeled off. Rather than healing, every time the skin starts to heal, it peels away again. I'm lead trumpet of my school and of the youth orchestra of my city, and my lips are really affecting my playing. I've tried moisturizing them, not using chapstick, resting for long periods of time (weeks) to try to heal my lips, and other stuff, but nothing has worked. I can't afford to be inconsistent any more. I'll take any suggestions, advice, or information. Thanks! |

![]() ![]() | Re: How do I heal my lips? Are you sure that there isnīt a thin skin underneath the one peeling off? Do you rub the skin to see if it is there or if it will fall off? Donīt rub your lips if you do. I had that bad habbit once, and sure enough skin would rub off when I so persistantly invited it to do so . . . Maybe you need some ointmet containing cortisone to help the healing process? When I worked as a postman i frequently scratched the skin off my fingers on peoples mailboxes. An ointment like that helped me. You could ask a doctor about that . . .

![]() ![]() | Re: How do I heal my lips? As Sofus said, this may call for professional help. Either you are continuing to irritate it in some way or you have a bacteria or something that is keeping it from healing. Or, you could have a mineral deficiency. In any event, it sounds like you need to go to the next level rather than simply hoping that it will work itself out. Good luck.
