I'm New Here... Hiya! I just joined. Here's some stuff about me! ABCgirl stands for the college I'm attending in the fall, Appalachian Bible College. But if you want to call me Alphabet Girl, that's OK, too! I've been playing almost 8 years now, since I was almost nine. I just got braces off, and I am currently going through the INTENSELY FRUSTRATING ordeal of getting my control back, since the whole shape of my mouth has changed. Completely infuriating. I play on a Bach (I think) student trumpet in so-so shape. My dad keeps saying he's going to get me a better one, but the funds are never there. I use a 7C mouthpiece most of the time, but switch to a 3C occasionally. I'm a member of my regional youth orchestra, and I'm 2nd seat. I own a B on the first ledger line above the staff, and I've almost got the C two ledger lines up. I've squeaked out a D right above that. I don't have great range. 1st concert of the season is next Friday-- We're playing "Procession of the Nobles" by Rimsky-Korsakov and "Les Toreadors" from Carmen, among others. I've really enjoyed both. So, I'm hoping to find a spot here! Other trumpet forums have been a little inactive.

hi, abc. what will your major be? do you know how to 'line out' a hymn? that's an honored appalachian practice...although the men usually do the work. 'nobles' has some nasty interval jumps, if the conductor goes fast! dj

Yes, PhatLips, you were very right. This place is hoppin' compared! I'll be majoring in Bible/Theology and minoring in Missions with a language concentration. Can't wait! No, I don't know how to line out a hymn. Yeah, "Nobles" can be pretty nasty, although I'm playing the third part. My poor comrades-in-section are dying with those intervals--5ths at the speed of light! I'm enjoying it, though. Our concert is Friday. Thanks for the welcome, everybody! I'm sure I'll learn a lot! --ABCgirl
