Introductions and Greetings

Hey,
My name is Ken Austin, trumpeter & Prof. from Chicago area.
Some of you know me as the guy who played principal in Bogota, Colombia(70s) or with Indianapolis SO with Chappy (late 70s), or from Canada (11 years), but lately I reside in Chicago where I play in 2 Orchestras and do other gigs.
I also teach at Trinity Christian College (Band, Jazz Band, Trumpet)
I also like brass band playing (now). I am solo Eb with the Yankee Brass of New England ( check out our website http://members.valley.net/~fybi/ )and solo Bb with the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band.
My new CD, "The Yankee Olio" ( website http://cdbaby.com/cd/kenaustin ), is a recording of mid-ninteenth century Eb cornet solo music performed on two original Eb cornets. If you must have one try CDBaby or email me. ken.austin@trnty.edu
I like chating about trumpet construction and different kinds of mouthpieces, road biking, and triathlons.
I play on Xeno Bb & C ( ocassionally on Bach), Schilke small trumpets, and other random cornets, flugals, and garden hoses.

Do you recommend 1/2" small bore hoses? or large bore 5/8"? (well, you knew that SOMEONE was going to ask sooner or later!)

Welcome; sounds like you will be a great addition.

Hello and welcome! To add to Tootsall's question... do the Bb garden variety hoses work best...what type of funnel works best at the end?

Welcome, Ken!

Chappy is a great guy! I remember the never-ending leadpipe tests that he did when we were in school. Black electrical tape... great "instant solder".

See you around the board!

Cheers!
Bruce

Hi Ken,

<<<...Schilke small trumpets, and other random cornets, flugals, and garden hoses.>>>

I am no where near your list of your impressive experiences but hey I'm with you on this one............I've got a couple of rolls of copper pipe, an unused lead mouthpipe, and a Besson Bell that could be made into something very interesting.

Welcome to TM,

Liad
