new here

I just came to the site. I recently visited a local Pawn shop and spotted a Benge 3x I think. I came here looking how to analyze whether or not to buy it or try to negotiate on it.

It seemed to be in good condition as far as not having any dents. I don't really know how else to analyze it. The slides worked and the valves didn't stick. It was extremely fingerprinted and tarnished I believe. The silver didn't shine. I don't know if this is a true silver trumpet or just a stainless steel or something. They wanted $500. I didn't try to haggle, but you know pawn shops are always wanting to make a deal. Usually they know what they got too though. I dunno.

Re: new here

Hello, Tenspeed - welcome to TM.
There is a lot of other information here about trumpet playing and related topics so be sure to visit often and ask questions. Also, use the SEARCH function - it will show a lot of past discussions and information, too.
