![]() | New Member I am a newly, 50-something, retired educator and trumpet performer. I have decided that quality of life was more important than slaving away, both in teaching and gigs, for another 10 or 15 years. Bit of a hit on the pension. I will continue to practice and get deeper into the trumpet and play the gigs which interest me. To that end, I am in the process of ordering the Chicago Standard 46 with a red brass bell. For years a Bach player, it was and still is, a perfect horn for the section player and "blending," as well as practicing. But I am retiring from that sort of playing and am only interested in being a soloist and, thus, playing a soloist horn. Guess I'm lucky. At a point in life--one must decide what is important--and jump in as if there is no tomorrow. Regrets are a bad thing. Looking forward to ending my "lurking" days here and maybe participate from time to time. By the way, my moniker, retiredoc, is me; and has nothing to do with Doc Severinsen retiring from music. I also want to say that I am an American, but English was not my first language so I have a tendency to spell things wrong when writing sometimes. Please excuse me. The spell check is my greatest friend!! Happy practicing!! Last edited by retiredoc; 02-23-2007 at 04:31 AM. |
