TPoff will become famous soon enough
New member. "old" trumpeter

Just renewed my chops to play Clarke's Voluntary at my niece's wedding, as I did for her mother and my other sister. My first public performance in 30 years! It took some time to get back in shape, but it went well.

Now I want to focus on improv, where I was lacking when I played as a kid, and the flugel, which I never had before. I hope to do some playing with a NYC Sax pro who has moved to VT.

It's nice to be back!!

Welcome TPoff. You will find that TM is a great site.

For a comeback player, you are certainly launching into heavy duty stuff right away. Most of us who were off for that long take it muuuuch slower. Good luck on your improv stuff. Keep us posted on how it is going.

Thanks for the welcome.

I found that I lacked the discipline to do the practicing necessary to get my chops back on my own. The pressure of the pending performace at my niece's wedding provided the motivation I needed. And, to be clear, I did give myself a few months to get it right.
