Re: New and struggling

Hi Andy, Don't ever use the word struggling when talking about the trumpet. Its one of the more CHALLENGING of instruments to play.I myself stopped playing for many many years.I really regret it.Think of it in terms of a video game, which one are you going to play for a longer period of time,of corurse the more challenging of the two. That what makes this instrument so great!! Its a life long challenge (endever).I realized this 10 years ago Andy and been playing everyday since.Great to hear from you WELCOME AND GREAT PLAYING.

Re: New and struggling

Welcome to the forum.

I find that when I feel I am struggling with something on trumpet it means that I expect to be able to do something before I am ready.

Many skills on trumpet take months or years to build.
This means it is important to spend some time every day on basic skills but also play music and have fun.
It helps to record yourself now and then. You may be suprised how much better you are now than you were 6 months ago.

Re: New and struggling

Welcome, Andy! If trumpet was easy, then violists could play it too, and that would take the fun out.
