    Newbie

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum so thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a keen brass player and play most brass instruments - usually in brass bands. However, I'm keen to return to trumpet playing when our Ooompa band gets going - any helpful advice on where to get music for this venture would be much appreciated.

I currently have a rather sorry for itself Bach Prelude trumpet - really only good for showing the kids but am very keen to upgrade.
I started my brass journey on tuba though so I think I've done not bad!

Other than playing bands I sing in a choir and am generally busy being a wife and Mum.

    Re: Newbie

I'm just an old fogie who after a 40+ year lapse made a comeback in 2006 regaining the ability to play all brass from tuba up to and including piccolo trumpet, excluding a flugelhorn which I'm restrictively chasing. Too, for their second year I'm tutoring 4 young boys simultaneously on trumpet. I do not aspire to make it a prime business, and while I now hold the NC State creds to teach, I only minored in instrumental music, majoring in other subjects that didn't become my career from which I'm now retired on disability. From early on, I believe I was very well trained by Walter H. Cameron who had been a cornetist with John Philip Sousa's second commercial band 1926-31 and went on to play with the Ringling Bros circus before they merged with Barnum & Bailey. There are less than 700 people living in this town, and only one of the boys lives in town, the remainder still in this very rural county as much as 12 miles from Jackson. The county high school is 15 miles from Jackson. For all 4 boys I charge $60.00 for an hour, but their playing time is only 40 minutes and I use 20 minutes to discuss and demonstrate. You can determine rates as I did with today's exchange of @ $15.82 to the Pound.

And a very welcome to TM!

nice link Lisa -- I see you are an "overachiever" -- -that is nice to see ---- YOU make up for the other people like me who "underachieve" -- just because it is "easier"!! ----------- having said that, I have comeback to the trumpet 4 years ago, and started a trombone about a year ago. I double with trumpet in concert band, and trombone in the parades!! --- multiple instrument especially brass instruments is VERY COOL .

So welcome to TM --- since you play all the BRASS instruments, and sing also, along with the educational side of achievement ---- I nominate you as : THE COOLEST COMEBACKER ON TM!!!! --
