| New Friend | Newbie making a generic "hello" thread As it says, hello. I'm Jenny, I'm 16 from Scotland, and figured I should introduce myself. Trumpet is my second instrument, piano being first. I've been playing about 7 years now, working on grade 8. I play in my school's concert band and brass ensemble, and also conduct the school's Junior concert band 'cause I'm a wee band geek me :) So yes, hello. Any other Scots on here? |

Welcome to TM! You seem to really enjoy playing by the number of groups you are involved in. I don't think many people in USA will know what you are talking about by grades but looks like you are progressing really well. Last edited by _TrumpeT_ : 09-25-2006 at 12:37 AM.

I do enjoy playing. I play mostly classical stuff, but I'd love to play more jazz. Guess I'll just build up to the impressive stuff. Thanks for the welcomes :)

| Hello Jenny I am actually only a few miles from you. Are you looking for some trumpet playing experience? The Open Orchestra in Edinburgh currently has scholarship places (i.e. no fee) for students wanting playing experience. Generally you need to be grade five or above but there is no audition. The standard is actually quite high in spite of this. There are quite a few ex pros in the orchestra and people who maybe studies music but did not take it up professionally. The current program has one piece that needs an extra trumpet player. Next season there is lots of larger brass parts. It might be worth checking it out: http://www.blackford.demon.co.uk/open-orchestra/ |
