![]() | Not to toot my own horn... ...but I wanted to say hello to everyone. :) I am new to the forum and new to the trumpet. The only time I have had my lips on a trumpet was in 5th grade band tryouts. I passed but decided that being in the band wasn't cool. Fast forward several years and I regret that I never learned to play. So now I am giving up alot of my hobbies to pick up a new one. :) I'm sure I'll have lots of questions so bear with me please. I purchased a Getzen 300 Series in used condition as my first trumpet. I have also purchased a couple books. So once my trumpet arrives, hopefully by the weekend, I'll be attempting to make music. If anyone has any advice for a 31 year old just learning to play the turmpet please pass it on. I don't expect to be a pro at this but I don't want to get discouraged and put the thing in the closet with the elec. guitar I haven't touched in about 15 years. :( Thanks for having me and I look forward to your replies. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Not to toot my own horn... Welcome! I think you'll find learning to play the trumpet can be very discouraging. Sometimes things will work, and we'll feel on top of the world, at other times we'll want to chuck it. So welcome, and although the forum can't make learning easier, you'll find plenty of encouragement. Keep us posted!
