He invites me out every year and one of these days I'm going to take him up on it. Welcome to TM. It's great to have you here. Rogerio |

I just had to laugh at this. I did a project with my first grader earlier this year on family heritage (my Wife did this with our older son last year based on her Swedish background, so I knew the drill). Since my family is from Switzerland, we started doing some research. The first question on the sheet was, “Where is your family originally from?” Easy, Switzerland. The second question was, “What language do they speak there?” Easy, Swiss! Come on, bring on the hard questions!!!! With a little research I quickly learned that there are four prominent languages in Switzerland: German (63.7%), French (19.2%), Italian (7.6%), Romansch (0.6%). Yep, that’s right, no “Swiss”! Boy, did I feel dumb – I knew literally nothing about my heritage. I’m sure that’s why SwissTrumpet commented that “Swiss is a very difficult language!” Anyway, Welcome SwissTrumpet! Like Rogerio, I also know Matthias Merki (we played a gig together recently here in Phoenix). Enjoy your stay!

Usually they just say, "speak Brazilian for me!" John, don't feel bad my friend... I was in the dark too about the Swiss thing until I made friends with a Swiss. Considering all the fighting we do all over the world we should be better educated as American's. | |
