![]() | Trying it again after all these years... Hi All, I've been kicking it around for a couple of years and finally have decided. What the heck. After 30 yrs of not touching a mouthpiece with my lips, I am going to give it a go. So I started doing some research on trumpets and stumbled across this great website! I have yet to purchase one, but it will probably be something a little older but decent in the sub $500 range until I'm sure I can produce more than just slobber. Thanks, Nick |

After my 30-year hiatus I knew the embouchure type I was born with (upstream Type IV) and I adjusted it, I started using very little mouthpiece pressure, I took only medium-size breaths, I played more softly, and I can now play scales up to High F (an octave above top-line F) on a deep Bach 7 mouthpiece (although it is much easier when I use my Bach 7E mouthpiece). Although I am much weaker than I was 30 years ago (I am disabled), I play *smarter* so that it doesn't require much strength. - Morris | |

![]() | Re: Trying it again after all these years... Great!! I quit in Middle School and picked it up again about 9 years ago. Best thing I've ever done. My advice is to get a good used student horn (it'll be easier to play while you're rebuilding your chops) find a teacher and find a community band to play with. Best of luck. |
