well...here I am...Hello everyone....

I'm new here and isn't this exciting?
I live in the desert above Palm Springs, and I've been playing horn for about forty-somethin years. I'm about to trade up from a Benge to a Bach Strad, but what's really exciting for me right now is the little Connstellation Cornet (1965) that came into my life today. Purchased new, the horn was used by a young student who closed up the case and put it away until now. The horn is terrific. Looks, plays and performs like new. Even the case is in great shape. It's like the thing just got frozen in time and today it thawed out. A nice effect, too, are the vaseline jar and valve oil bottle that came in the case: both are glass. Cute.
I'm sure someone here will be interested in this find. I'll get pictures.
I've played a lot of different music -- jazz, classical, etc. -- but mostly I just play the blues now.
Hope everyone is well. And I hope to chat more. Bye bye.
Steve

Re: well...here I am...Hello everyone....

Hey Bud -- thanks for the note. So: ya think I'm lucky? How lucky am I? I need to offer my friend some money for this old Connstellation cornet. I'm falling in love with it. Is there a quick and easy way to estimate the value of this fine-looking horn? If he settles for $400, would that be in my favor? Who knows? (It's nice to find a place to talk about this stuff. Hope someone can direct me.)

Based on the way you describe the cornet, it sounds to me like $400 would be a very good price for him and a very good deal for you - a classic 'Win-Win'. We all hope for a little serendipity in our lives once in awhile. It sounds like you had some. We'd love to see some pics.

Welcome to TM. We have a great time here talking about trumpet stuff. Once in a while we even blow a few notes.
