Hub van Laar? Tony, I heard that you are playing Hub Van Laar instruments. Just curious, what models did you go for? I played several at ITG in Amherst and was particularly smitten with the Bob Findley trumpet. Ed Kennedy

Re: Hub van Laar? Hi Ed - Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, Hub sent me a horn to try. It's a really beautiful horn. I did try all of the models, but the B2 is the one I liked best. So the current arsenal is the Van Laar B2 trumpet and the NYTC Stage 1 Classic flugel. Thanks - Tony P.S. The intermediate Stomvi is still on hand for special occasions

Re: Hub van Laar? Tony, You're a busy guy, no apology necessary. I don't think that I played the B2, but from the description it reminds me of my old Benge 5X, lightweight with large throat bell. I hope to try one sometime. Yours truly, Ed Kennedy Tampa, FL

Re: Hub van Laar? I actually had the pleasure to go to the workshop in Holland a few months ago with a few friends. It was a real first class experience. They treated us incredibly well, brought us coffee and biscuits, showed us around the workshop itself. We played nearly every instrument he had available. None of them are finished when you try them there. You choose the model you're interested in, then he makes three or four with different finishes so that you can choose the one you like the most. It's really a pampered way to go about buying a trumpet. I didn't buy anything sadly, but did I ever feel well taken care of. Matt
