John Fedchock "Up & Running" GREAT!

Hey Brothers and Sistas ...

I just received my new copy of John Fedchock "Up & Running" (bout time these cats cut another recording!) ... includes our gracious moderator on Lead Trumpet ... TONY KADLECK ... along with his side kick Craig Johnson ... and the unbelievable Barry Ries ... wow ... this guy can play flugelhorn folks ... Scott Wendholt and Kerry MacKillop ... rounds out the trumpet section. As with every other Fedchock New York Big Band CD .... this is a must have if you like top notch big bands that can use modern harmonic structures and yet swing their collective asses off! You won't be disappointed with this album. Tony plays some great Lead ... Ries Flugel is outstanding ... just a wonderful, wonderful album. This band ... along with Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band ... is vastly under-rated.

Thanks Russell! I think that John is very happy with it. It came out well.

Also, I want to point out that Craig Johnson played lead on some of the tracks.

Great trumpet section, and one of my good pals (and unsung players) Kerry as well. Good to see he's getting noticed. I think he's one of the best jazz players in the world... a true player's player.

Be sure to check out New York trumpeter/composer Bill Mobley's big band sides which are:
Live at Smalls'--Volumes 1 &2
New Light
All 3 are on Space Time records out of France. Billy's playing and writing is second to none-- roght up there with John and Maria Schneider et al....

Hey Tony ... I wish that the credits would specify who plays Lead on what .... however, they don't. Great CD ... listening to it now.
