| Fortissimo User | Only info I can find is on his website where they announced his doctor-ordered rest and cancellation of September dates. Nothing found in the Canadian media sites from overnight. http://www.maynardferguson.com/concerts.html |

| Just received a call to let me know that Maynard passed away late last night in Canada from kidney failure. Maynard Ferguson 5/4/28 - 8/23/06 After recently completing a new live recording and closing out his amazing performing career with a historic run at Birdland last month in NYC, Maynard Ferguson passed away peacefully in Canada Wednesday evening. Maynard will long live on in our hearts, in our minds, and in our music. RIP |

| Fortissimo User | I see they're going nuts on TH about this. Still nothing in the media. I'd strongly recommend waiting for an official announcement of some kind rather than going off on the basis of the "stories" flying around at the moment. Not saying the story is false, not saying it's true.... suggesting we wait and see. It shouldn't take too long if true. |

| Doing searches on all live news services, and a Google news search, nothing. I think if he died last night we would have news by now. Don't forget that they said Doc died a few months ago when he cancelled a couple concerts. After hearing Doc in the hallway at the ITG, we should all be that dead. Here's hoping it's a sick rumour. -cw- |

| Pianissimo User | Nope, Im not seeing anything in the news yet either... Im hoping this turns out to be an untrue rumor, but if not, the music world has indeed lost a a great musician, entertainer, and inspiration to many trumpet players everywhere |

![]() ![]() | A very sad day for all of us trumpeters. At least we know the band in Heaven will have one more stellar trumpeter... Bud Herseth I think said Maynard was the greatest brass player of the 20th century and I have to agree. God bless and rest in peace. -t |
