Love the black velcro sound enhancers you have on your Stage 1 Brad! Where can I get some of those? How much? Will they make me play like you?

I saw a guy with something like that on HIS horn, only they were like clear and kind of krinkled when you touched them.

Re: More oddball mute markings

Don is one of the cooler conductors around. Got to sub on "Sweet Charity" a bit when he was doing that on Bway.

Re: More oddball mute markings

Ron is a horse. He used to hang out in my shop in Tampa when he was playing shows at TBPAC and crash test horns and mouthpieces.

Sorry...just getting around to checking this site again (huh?? what's wrong with me??? must be busy...ha )..

Oh yes...special sound enhancement. Soon they will be all the rage. I'm sure I can be bought...er...sell you some... !!

Okay...inquiring minds seem to want to know.... here's the story:

This model of Stage 1 that I have was originally meant to be a sort of "test kit", so folks could try different bells, tuning crooks and combinations thereof. However, I liked the way it played just fine (not to mention the cool ability to switch out the bells for various settings)..so... it's mine. One problem though...there is only 1 brace on the bell side that really isn't all that thick. The first show I played this on that had a bunch of mute changes - saw me break that brace, twice. I got it fixed and needed a solution. I figured the thing that was breaking the brace was the play - back and forth - when I was switching out mutes. So... I came up with the velcro straps on either side of the valve block to stabilize it. Voila! Hey, it worked and I didn't notice any loss in sound. I take the velcro off during normal - non mute/crazy switching stuff.

So...how's that?

Yes, Tony K....Don was really such a pleasant guy. He sure had a lot on his plate, being the first run and producers there, et al. He handled it brilliantly. I told him he should be nominated for sainthood...ha.

Ron Turner...what can I say. A real beast of a trumpet player and a good friend. It is always my pleasure to work with him. There are not many guys in the country who can do what he does....
