| Re: New CD with John Fedchock !!! Thanks Tony ... just saw Roger Ingram with Harry Connick Jr. on The Letterman Show picking off dubba C's on "Yes We Can" from Harry's new CD. Roger always sounds so good on that S-42. |

| Re: New CD with John Fedchock !!! yes indeed the new John Fedchock New York Big Band record, titled "Up & Running", will be out on March 20. Below is a bit more information. Cheers, Spitty (aka Jason - Fedchock's publicist) The John Fedchock New York Big Band has become an institution that has been thriving for almost two decades and proudly features many of the same players that started with the band in 1989. Once talented unknowns in the jazz world, the players that comprise Fedchock’s ensemble have all become top-rate, first-call players on the New York and international jazz scenes. DownBeat Magazine stated that, "John Fedchock's New York Big Band commands your attention and holds it. This band of peerless pros takes advantage of Fedchock's exciting arrangements."? Indeed, few big bands can boast the kind of sound that Fedchock’s group produces, one that is based on “The extroverted nature of his scores, the brisk interplay between his solo passages and his orchestral accompaniments and the radiant quality of his brass-choir writing . . . an unabashed celebration of the large band format," says The Chicago Tribune. The John Fedchock New York Big Band has toured and performed around the globe, including shows at the Jazz & Blues Festival in Stockholm, Sweden, the Imatra Jazz Festival in Imatra, Finland, and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. Regarded as one of the most perceptive and versatile trombonists on the scene today, Fedchock's reputation as an accomplished and resourceful composer/arranger is also widely acknowledged. His dense voicings, thick ensemble writing and unique, swinging lines have become his characteristic trademarks. "I'm a player who also writes," offers Fedchock modestly. But in truth, John Fedchock is a supremely gifted musician whose artistry will unquestionably have a hand in guiding and shaping the direction of big band music for the new millennium. The ensemble’s debut recording, "New York Big Band," along with the follow-up CD, "On The Edge," received high praise from critics, including 4 1/2 star reviews in DownBeat Magazine, and the appearance of both recordings in the publication’s list of "Best CDs Of The 90's". The band's heralded third release "No Nonsense" added to their critically acclaimed body of work, and earned Fedchock, who Leonard Feather called a “superior jazz trombonist” in The Los Angeles Times, a 2003 Grammy Award nomination for "Best Instrumental Arrangement" for his exciting chart on "Caribbean Fire Dance." On March 20, 2007 Reservoir Music will release “Up & Running,” the newest recording from the John Fedchock New York Big Band. On “Up & Running” Fedchock and his formidable ensemble once again fully embrace and honor the jazz tradition while striking out on adventurous musical sojourns fueled by Fedchock’s impeccable, imaginative playing, writing, arranging and leadership.
