![]() | Sitting next to Tony This being my first post on this site, what better way to start than by giving "props" to my friend Tony Kadleck. Since many people are asking about him,his playing, secrets etc....I figured I'd chime in. I've been working with Tony is various situations over the years (we both arrived in NYC in the mid 80's) He joined B,S&T for a short while after I left. I can say this without reservation; Tony sounds great in every situation! To me, he is one of the most complete trumpet players I've ever worked with. Not only is he a gifted trumpet player but more importantly he a great musician and has a very musical approach to everything he plays. THIS...in my opinion is what separates him from so many other players. Just having chops and technique is meaningless unless you have musicality. The great lead players always make it feel great. Tony has this in spades. We've worked together in horn sections, big bands, film dates, jingles he even subbed on Tower of Power when Bill Churchville was in the Hospital. In every situation he's awesome. Perhaps most important, being the the music business is a people business, Tony is a great person!! What you are always comes out the bell of the horn...perhaps that is the secret!! In any case....NYC can be a rough place to deal with. Getting to play with great players like TK makes it worth while. Quiet as its kept he's also a great jazz player. Jusy my 2 cents- Peace Barry Danielian Barry Danielian |

![]() | Re: Sitting next to Tony Thanks Bob!! Glad to hear that the horns were actually in the house. Most of the time we're in the pit blowing our brains out and we're not even in the house mix. Hope your doing great! Peace B

![]() | Re: Sitting next to Tony Well, being a trumpet player, I thought we could have had more of you guys!! My daughter and I were there with the drama club from the high school in the district I teach in. There were a handful of the band kids as well. Once they saw me me talking to you guys, they all came down and everyone was really nice and very patient with all of their questions. Thanks very much for that. Bob

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sitting next to Tony Barry - Thanks for the nice words! Folks - As we all know, any section is only as good as it's parts. Good lead playing comes only with good section playing alongside. I consider myself very lucky when I show up to a gig and see players like Barry, James De la Garza, Jon Owens, Bob Millikan, etc...(there are tons in this town). When you see these faces you know that the section is going to pop. Please take this opportunity to pick Barry's brain as much as he'll allow. He is truly one of the guys who has done it all, from Tower of Power to Eddie Palmieri to producing, recording, mixing and being a Logic Audio whiz on his own projects. (Barry Danielian) Tony |

![]() | Re: Sitting next to Tony Thanks Tony!! Your exactly right...music is a team sport! The reason I came to nyc was to sit in sections where everyone there plays better than me and by doing so I can become better. There are so many great trumpet players in town and I can't recall ever sitting in a section with someone that I didn't learn something from. Whether its lead playing (big band, horn section, latin)playing Jazz,Classical there are so many great cats to learn from and most everyone is very much into sharing info. It's a great thing! Peace Barry
