Just curious about Tony's choice in mutes. How many do you generally carry to the gig, and what kinds do you use?

HappyThanksgiving!

Re: Tony's choice in mutes.

Happy Holidays!

Playa -

I end up bringing straight, cup, harmon w/ stem, plunger, solotone, and bucket to all gigs. It's a pain, but it seems that whatever I'm missing is what is written for, so I take no chances.

What is currently in my case: straight (Leblanc - Alessi/Vacc.), cup (H/B - red & white), harmon (Joral), plunger (a large, thin, light blue one given to me by trombonist John Wheeler), solotone (H/B), and bucket (E-Z- buck).

Once in a while I'll throw in a "soft" straight mute (Trumcor "lyric") just in case.

Thanks -
Tony

Sorry...a few days behind on this one...

Tony...how do you like the EZ bucket? Other than the obvious ease of handling/ on-off feature..how's the sound? Comparable to the H/B, clip on? (or at least, good enough?)

Thanks....!

Brad -

I think it's "good enough", but not quite as good as the H/B. But it is a whole lot easier to manipulate, especially during fast mute changes.

Re: Tony's choice in mutes.

Hey Tony, quick add on question. What kind of mute holder do you use in the pit? Thanks in advance!

Peter -

I use this:

I love it. I purchased two - one to leave at the theater and one to carry around with me.
