Trumpet Charts Online

This may look as an infringement of copyright...but still:

Do you know of any internet page where I can get or view trumpet parts from Big Bands or Show bands charts just for sight-reading purposes?

Feel free to chime in before Toni.

Nick...

If you need big band charts from the 30s-40s, let me know what tunes you might want and if I have them I'll take a picture and send you the lead chart.

Re: Trumpet Charts Online

Chuck,

I don't need anything in particular. Just need to sightread some charts. Any charts you can send or post would be just fine - just do whatever you have available and easy to reach - would be helpful if they are popular. I do this for another audition and don't know what are they gonna make me play, but I guess that you know better than me what is most often played.

Re: Trumpet Charts Online

Ok Nick,

I pulled a few charts and will send them this evening.

All are good swinging charts to help with your big band/swing reading.

All charts are note for note charts from the records. You can find all of the tunes to play along with.

The Sinatra charts will be Billy May or Nelson Riddle charts, usually played by the Basie band.

I will send

Luck Be A Lady--Sinatra

Indian Love Call--Artie Shaw

My Kind Of Town--Sinatra

Let's Dance--Benny Goodman's themem song.

Opus No.1--Tommy Dorsey

Swanee River--Tommy Dorsey, with Ziggy Elman's solo written out

Begin The Beguine--Artie Shaw, in the original key-Concert D

Let's Face The Music--Sinatra

Have fun.

tptshark is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Trumpet Charts Online

There are a couple of books published (by Hal Leonard, i think) - one is lead charts from the Basie album "Basie Straight Ahead", the other is lead charts from the Jones/Lewis band album "Consummation" - if you can find them they're great! i found them particularly good for practicing reading and developing style, especially if you can get the recordings and play along. i don't think they're too pricey either.

Let's not forget that I asked charts just for personal use (sightreading charts in my practice room) If you or anyone else plan to perform these with a band, IMO should purchase the charts. Otherwise it would create a copyright issue.

Nick, Iīve taped some charts onto my chimney.
Once you can sight read them from Bulgaria,
you sight reading will be more than sufficient!

Re: Trumpet Charts Online

The Tom Kubis website will let you view the lead trp parts for all of his charts. I have used them for sightreading and they are excellent.

Of course; it's just for sightreading.
