Van Laar

Tony,
Got to try some of the Van Laar trumpets briefly at the ITG. Some very nice instruments. Is there a US distributor?

Re: Van Laar

Bob Findley is the US distributor of Van Laar. IMO they are some of the best horns I've ever seen and played.

Re: Van Laar

We all know the feeling, we play the first couple notes and we cant explain why a certain horn sticks with us. I cant get the sound of that B5 and B4 out of my head.

To bad Bob is in Ca and I am in Md. But then again it might be a good thing

Re: Van Laar

What other horns did you try? Did you get to try the Sonare, Schilke and Shires?

Re: Van Laar

I tried a few horns as I wandered. I couldnt do to much due to some back issues, see other post, but I have always liked the Schlikes, the sonares play very well, didnt try the shires, I still really like the Yamaha LA model.

Just something about the Van Laar..........................I must resist.

Re: Van Laar

Yes, Bob Findley is the guy.

I was so sorry that I couldn't be there. Wanted to see what Hub has been working on recently.

Re: Van Laar

I have Bob's B3 that he sold me when he started playing his signature model.

Just a beautiful looking, sounding and playing horn. Although I wish Bob had left a few notes in the horn before he shipped it:)

Re: Van Laar

Hi Tony,
I was at the ITG Convention also. I tried about 10 different flugelhorns, only to have Arturo standing over my left shoulder. Ha! Hub, truly is an Artist.
