Re: Miles 1969 or he's in a trance from all the heavy music surrounding him! thanks for posting this- so inspiring...trying to write some simple, but hip things like that ...it's not so easy. Fine line between ripping them(miles and the gang) off and getting too dense and dark. Ij

Re: Miles 1969 Bored?.....It appears more like FRUSTRATION!! As Wayne tries over and over again to stay in pitch with Miles...the masta' of slufferoonie-bent notes! It almost appears to me that Miles is simply toying with Wayne...and maybe a bit testy with Shorters poor attempt to duo-up with Miles. I swear Wayne has tried to adjust that mouthpiece in vain about a million times. Actually to the point of being almost a bit comical? Bottom line: Miles is just being Miles it would seem.

Re: Miles 1969 Wayne always looks weird when he plays, it drives some people crazy. What you have to understand is that he's listening really, really hard. And waiting. For just the right moment to do just the right thing. That involves a lot of waiting and little playing. But when he plays, look out! Wayne is the most brilliant musician in jazz still alive. Maybe with Sonny Rollins. Michael McLaughlin

Re: Miles 1969 I'm not bashing the guys here, just pointing out something amusing that came to mind ! I agree with gridjam, sometimes less is more . Something seemingly simple can be quite the opposite in reality. Intensity is the word when I think of Miles, something he achieves without blowing the roof off the joint.

Re: Miles 1969 Thanks for the headsUP with this clip "ARTIE RULES"! I must say that even though I dig all of Miles' incarnations and re-inventions, there is something about this period that moves me the most (perhaps my admiration for Jimi I agree with "Toobz" & "gridjam" that less is more and I have always been of the opinion that Miles said more with just one note than a lot of cats could say in a 1000! Sweets was like that as well.
