| Thanks to Ingrid! This is brief kudos post to Ingrid. As my son gets ready to go off to college and major in jazz studies on piano and tenor, we have a second child showing similar interests and skills: my 13 year old daughter. She dotes on her older brother and regards him as a role model. We're blessed that this is working out. However, it is important for young woman, particularly in jazz (Natalia plays alto, piano and studies voice - in fact she has three teachers, one for each!) to have solid female role models. Well, after posting in "another forum" on this matter, I felt compelled to express gratitude to folks like Ingrid, the big band, Diva and like my friend, Audrey Morrison, for providing fine roles models for kids like my daughter. As a dad, as I start pointing her towards women of a like mind in music, it means so much to me that folks like you, Ingrid, are demonstrating both incredible skill AND self-respect with dignity! Being a woman in jazz has got to be tough. My wife is an attorney (law professor) and she faced many challenges, but what I have seen my female peers in the music business have to deal with seems even more difficult to navigate. In any case, I owe you a purchase. I'll get on it asap. Things have been absolutely crazy around here as my wife and I are dealing with getting my sons auditions dealt with, my studio is gutted for remodeling and the mayhem that introduces into any household. I think I may have gone this path before. Sorry about that if I repeat myself, but the other forum thread got my dander up a bit as it touched a pet peeve. Peace! Nick |

| Re: Thanks to Ingrid! I sort of understand 'crazy', Nick. Have been on the road for two weeks and have just NOW found a brief moment to say hi and thanks to all who have been posting away while I have been searching for a strong enough signal or a signal at all (or time)... from New York to Sitka to Mexico and back home to NY on sunday.Yikes! Good luck to your kids and give them lot's of good music. It was (and is always) the basis of sanity for me. The trumpet, well- ha, we all know how sane that instrument choice is. peace and best, have got to get some breakfast now-starving after missing dinner because the sound check last night was four hours behind. THE road. :) Ingrid |
