    SOLD - Olds Standard 1947-48

SOLD. Very nice example of this singular and rare pro horn. Plays very, very well. Extremely versatile. Serial 34XXX, at the very end of production for the model. The Standard features a tempered bell, making it unique in the Olds lineup. Lacquer on this one is about 70%, though leadpipe has new lacquer. I believe the horn is in original, never-repaired condition. A few tiny dings, nothing at all like a dent. Valves are in great shape, showing only small amounts of wear; no leakage. Case may or may not be original but is certainly of vintage similar to the horn. More photos here: [B]http://tinyurl.com/hpnejhk

Quoting e-Bay seller Sangrael_c (1947 raw-brass Standard sold for $690 Buy-it-Now in August): “If you are not familiar with these trumpets, don't be fooled by the name "Standard". Olds did not name the trumpet Standard to imply that it is just an ordinary trumpet. They meant this trumpet "sets the standard". It is a professional level trumpet in all ways. It is well designed and in my opinion was one of the best trumpets ever made. Because of all the attention the Olds Recording and Super Recording get, the Standard is sometimes forgotten, but it should not be because this is a really fine trumpet with an awesome sound and feel.”

Price: $445. Shipping around $35 via FedEx Ground. Thanks for looking.
