![]() | Re: WTB: Rotary valve trumpet Wow, if he got a rotary trumpet that's even half decent for $700 that's an absolute steal! If you want a horn with any real quality you'll need to be prepared to spend at least $2,000-3,000 for a reasonable used rotary... |

![]() ![]() | Re: WTB: Rotary valve trumpet Not bad. At least from the photo, it does not look home made. Do you have a 'recipe' for it? How does it play? Did you do all of the tube bending and soldering yourself or hire it out? Where did the valves come from? From a pure cost point of view, I don't see very much different than with a piston trumpet. The tuning slides have a few more bends but that can't add up to very much additional. I don't know the cost of rotary valves vs pistons. So, why does a rotary trumpet cost $2000-$3000? Where does the additional cost come from? If the cost is not more, then there is a lot of profit. Maybe you should start making and selling them.

![]() | Re: WTB: Rotary valve trumpet why does a good rotary cost 2000-3000? because most good horns of ANY kind cost that much. rotary or not, doesn't really matter.
