WTS: 1968 Bach 37 - $1000

For sale is a vintage early Elkhart Bach 37ML. The serial number on this horn is 49950.

This is the best playing Bach 37 I've played to date, and I don't say that lightly. (I've made it no secret that I haven't liked any of the newer ones, but compared to a 1980's Bach, a 1974 Bach, and another Bach from the late 60's, this one takes the cake.)

No dents or dings, anywhere, but the original lacquer is pretty worn. Other than that, there is only a single, expertly installed patch just after the bell ferrule. There are no dents or dings, just the lacquer wear and that patch (I can't feel the patch while I'm playing, if you're wondering; it's never bothered me).

Valves are in great shape, and compression is excellent. Serial number matches up on all the valves. Slides and valves all move freely and easily. The dump slide moves, and it doesn't pop out while you're playing (which can be so annoying).

This trumpet is from early in the Elkhart stage, so the first valve slide is the under-under construction, and the bell to leadpipe braces are wide-footed.

I'm the second owner of the trumpet. This trumpet was chosen for the original owner by a well-known professional trumpet player.

Included is the original case in okay condition. (There's a small chunk of wood missing from the outside of the case, the Bach logo fell off, and the seam separated on the inside cover.) The case is still more than useable for carrying the horn, some mutes and accessories around.

Also including a Vincent Bach Corp . 6 mouthpiece in good condition. I'm pretty sure this mouthpiece is from the 70's, so it's not original, but it's still a great piece. (Quite different from the Bach 6's made today, actually: it has a much wider rim compared to my newer 6. I actually prefer the narrower rim, though.)

I'd like to get $1000 for the trumpet, mouthpiece, and case, or make me an offer. I'd like to have this horn sold by New Year's, so all reasonable offers will be considered. Buyer to pay shipping and insurance via USPS Priority. I take PayPal or cashier's check.

Thanks for looking, and feel free to contact me with any questions or if you'd like more pictures.

(Mutes, slide greases, valve oil, and metronome in the one picture are not included. They are simply to demonstrate the capacity of that compartment. Mouthpiece, instrument, and case are included.)

Thanks! Pictures are here: Picasa Web Albums - Charles - 1968 Bach 37M...
