![]() | WTS: 1968 Olds Studio SOLD SOLD LOCALLY FOR $375 The condition is good, but the plating shows signs of wear. In places (see pictures) the brass is visible underneath. The lacquer on top of the nickel plate (a clear lacquer) is rubbing off in some places. Overall i would rate cosmetics 6.5/10 and playability 9/10 It has a third slide ring but it isn't attached in the pictures. There are three small dings. One near the bell, one on the first valve slide and the other on the bell pipe as it leaves the first valve. It is a delightful horn to play. It has a .460 bore and was designed to have some resistance to accommodate long days of playing. The studio really is a mouthpiece dependent horn. It includes a Schilke 13C4 mouthpiece Original case included. Handle included, but not attached. Valve action is good, slides move freely. Compression is good. ![]() ![]() | Re: WTS: 1968 Olds Studio Still available? If so, I have a few questions. I just bought a 1951 Special. Some claim that the Special was a successor to the Studio but yours is obviously 17 years newer than mine. I had heard that the Special had a larger bore than the Ambassador so I would expect that the Studio would also. Yet this Studio and also my Special have exactly the same bore as an Ambassador. So, other than a few cosmetic differences, do you know if there is anything different about this trumpet and an Ambassador? Where does this extra 'resistance' come from? Does it mean it will not project as well as a Super or Special? When you say it is mouthpiece dependent, what types of mouthpieces work with it? I like a small mouthpiece (like a 10 1/2 C) but I am not familiar with the Shilke numbers. How does the size compare to a Bach series number? Anything else I should know? BTW, I am a comeback player so I have not caught up with any of my horns yet, including 12 Ambassadors, 2 Specials and 2 Supers. This would be a nice addition if it has some unique characteristics.
