![]() | WTS: Holton Super Collegiate $150 I have a Holton Super Collegiate trumpet for sale, S/N 299344. I have had it put into good playing condition, but just isn't the trumpet for me. It has a nickel bell flare with copper bell tail, nickel or nickel-plated leadpipe, and is brass elsewhere. Looks nice, lacquer is about 90% but has been spot-relacquered--see below. Pictures are available; please PM me if interested. FAULTS: There are a few music-stand inflicted pings on the bell flare and a few dents on the bell tail. Horn had a plastic valve guard installed and the patina of the lacquer is lighter where the guard used to be. There is some plating wear on the 2nd valve; compression is OK though. REPAIRS: Horn arrived with a stuck main tuning slide and someone had bent up the bell tail, leadpipe, and broke the bell braces loose trying to pull it. All this has been straightened out and resoldered. The leadpipe and bell tail are still very slightly bent and the horn does look a little off from certain angles. The mouthpiece receiver had been reattached at one point and there were globs of solder leeching out of the joint; this has also been nicely redone and the receiver has been refinished. There is evidence of spot-lacquering on the valve casings and leadpipe. Horn has been chemically cleaned and new corks/felts installed. Valve compression seems OK. CASE: Original and functional, tan cloth covered with brown vinyl on the edges. Has the springy flip-up latches; one doesn't flip up anymore. Some of the vinyl is peeling off on the case lid. MOUTHPIECE: Original Holton 67 included; plating wear on shank, mouthpiece puller marks on the exterior cup. Not well-matched to the horn; I have a nice Yamaha 11B4 that's a great match and would include it for an extra $10. Should be fairly priced at $150 plus actual shipping. Since the horn has been bent and isn't 100% straight, I'll offer a 10-day trial; you pay the shipping to return. Thanks!

![]() | Re: WTS: Holton Super Collegiate $150 lol... one of my latches doesnt flip up either... as a testament, I would like to say that this horn is great! i recently pulled mine from the closet and delaquered it, i can say that this greatly intensified the tone, and made it more rich and full... 150 dollars for a good working S C is a great price, if your looking for a strong, inique horn, then this is for you!

![]() | Re: WTS: Holton Super Collegiate $150 Thanks for the testamonial, LTG. These are indeed unique trumpets. Mine has excellent projection and the bimetal bell adds plenty of edge and sizzle to the upper harmonics. It's at its best when you hold nothing back and give the horn all you've got... For me, a section player attempting to skillfully craft an ideal ensemble tone with which to cover the 2nd and 3rd parts, this trumpet is absolutely the wrong tool for the job. Surely someone can put this paint-peelin' Super to good use.
