Re: WTB: E flat rotary trumpet.

A friend, knowing that I have a small, vintage Mirafone Rotary trumpet, just told me about your inquiry. This horn was originally advertised as a D tpt, but when I got it 2.5 yrs ago, I discovered that the third valve mechanism was reversed, and it actually could play many notes in D. Weird, I know–I'd have to explain later.

Anyway, I put the valve mechanism in correctly and it played in F, but was flat with a large mouthpiece, which is what I prefer as a symphonic freelancer. I then had the main tuning slide lengthened and it now plays in E. I intended on using it for a performance of the Stravinsky "Pulcinella Suite," but decided to use my Schilke E, instead, with the ensemble in which I was playing at that time. Let me know if you might have an interest in this horn.

That does sound interesting. Where are you based? It sounds to me that it needs to be seen. Also what sort of price were you looking for? The truth is that I havnt too much to spend and was hoping to find something not too flashy because although Im becoming obsessed with these trumpets I'm still learning really. Thanks.

Re: WTB: E flat rotary trumpet.

I am in the Houston, Texas area, and I put over $800 (US) into this horn. I presently am attending some brass instructional classes near Dallas, Texas for the next 2-3 days, so it would be Sunday before I could take any pictures and send them your way. Let me know if you would be amenable to the fee of $800 and I'll send pictures.

Re: WTB: E flat rotary trumpet.

Hi, 800 would be do-able yes but I live in spain and I'm English and I dont think I could come to Houston to have a look and, to be honest I'd feel reluctant to buy something I haven't tried. Also I'm really looking for an Eb. I'd still like to see pictures if you'd like to send them because I have a friend from texas thats looking for a small trumpet too. Enjoy your classes.

Re: WTB: E flat rotary trumpet.

Yeah, this is not what you would want to buy until after the rest of your "arsenal" is in place: Bb, C, D, Eb, A-Bb picc, and then: E-F-G small tpts. I plan to put it in eBay soon, so you'll be able to see pictures there. Best...
